The ASHA Centre became hosts to a group of Arab and Jewish teenagers from Israel.
Together the teachers and students worked tirelessly together to stage a production of “Arabian Nights”
Although the rehearsal process was challenging, all having to overcome cultural differences, and the young people having to master English as a common language, the end result was nothing less than spectacular.
Both in Britain and back in their own communities audiences have been deeply moved by the triumph of their performance. It has been described as one of the most meaningful contributions to peace in their respective regions for decades.

Israeli Project 2007
“Arabian Nights” went on to Israel, where it was seen by over a thousand people during its short run in local theatres and schools. Apparently, Israeli audiences were deeply moved to see Arab and Jewish teenagers cooperating, sharing with each other their respective gifts of warmth and grace. Many people perceived the production as a meaningful contribution to the peace-process in the Middle East.
